Here is another frame of this Blue-winged Teal photographed in early morning light last weekend from Staten Island, New York. Taken shortly after the other frame while the bird was against an area with a cleaner and brighter background.

Canon 1DX and Canon 500 f4 ii + 1.4x iii. Tripod mounted while lying on the frozen mud/goose poop :eek3:

Processed with DPP 4.5 and PS. Took some of the info from Doug on my last photo and applied it to this one. I find it very difficult to get those birds perfectly. There is a fine balance between having the artificial look that you get when you lift the darks too much and having the bird look natural but keeping white whites and proper darks as well. Think I got it right on this one.

love the low angle, sharp details and the soft light plus the calm water. You nailed this one Issac!

Just a great looking bird, Isaac. Beautifully captured in the early light. I personally prefer your original post because it represented to me, the early morning light. I can also appreciate the work Doug had applied. I think the feather highlights in this one, near the waterline are a tad bright, and the beautiful water texture and tone is more appealing to me in the original. It's all subjective.
