Everyone here inspired me with thier dragonfly flight shots............I did recommend that the DF have something in the image to add a sense of the flight. Here's my results from a few hours ago. Canon Mark 3 with the 100-400mm lens and the 1.4 tele and a 20mm extension tube at 560mm at f10 and 1/2000 sec and ISO 1250 all mounted on a ball head and home made ground pod. Fill flash with better beamer on manual 1/8 power. It was bright overcast so i wish i had a bit more light to increase the speed even more for the wings........but I'll take it. Cropped from a horizontal to a full frame vert.
As always comments welcomed and appreciated.

DANG Roman... I have a hard enough time getting these guys while they're sitting STILL!

Focus is crisp and amazing to me anyway... especially for a DFIF (Dragon fly in flight)! The perch adds so much to this IMO. Dunno how you did it... Thank you for the shot info...

Very cool!

Didn't think it would be long before I saw a d'fly in flight from you Roman :D
You have done very well here with crisp focus on the body and blurred wings giving the feel of flight!!
The perch has set this apart from previous posts - Well done!!
I've got a long wait until summer :(

Good work Roman. The colors, BG and the action are great! I really like the legs out pose!

Woah! What an amazing job for your first time out! I couldn't even get one sittin' still LOL
This is excellent. I love the wings front and rear. Leaving in the twig was an excellent choice.
