I promised to post a quail egg on black as well, so here it is! Different angle than the egg on white, because with a black BG, the salt supporting the egg would be to conspicuous.
Stack of 5 images with minor tweaks on WB, contrast and sharpness.
D7000, 200mm f/4 Micro, tripod, remote shutter release with MUP, ISO-100, f/9, 1 sec, +0.7 EV.

I like this - maybe more even than the previous, it invites close inspection, the detail is fascinating. I think the lighting is also excellent, I get the impression a little beak is going to show any minute now.

Thanks Jon. Just to be clear, this egg is from the shop, not from the wild, so that probably limits the chance of the egg hatching....

Yes, for four minutes at 100 degrees and then I ate it!

What? No black salt to support the egg? :t3 Interesting fine detail in the shell and the black background works well here.
