I took this image this weekend at my local lake in Miami Lakes Florida with the handheld Nikon D500 (crop sensor) and AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm 1-5.6E ED VR.

Is really hard to get close to these ducks, they see anybody and start swimming to the middle of the lake, I was lucky to get this close and capture this image. They stay submerged in the water from 45 sec to 1 min.

ISO 640
f6.3
1/1600
500mm
Manual Mode
Processed in LR and PS.
Crop around 50%

All C & C's will be greatly appreciated. Hope you like it.

Thanks for looking

Hi Juan, I like this frame a lot -- in particular the eye still being visible and the drops of water coming up. I see you said this was a pretty big crop, but I do find myself wanting see the bird a bit bigger in the frame if the image quality allows. Thanks for sharing

Thank you Alex, here's the image with a tighter crop.

I'm wondering what other viewers think.

Hi Juan, Well done at capturing at the right moment, with the eye showing. I like your original post, the IQ is better, the water colour and DOF looks real good.

Excellent timing to freeze the moment but still get the eye. The large crop does not contribute to image quality and the image does suffer from it somewhat.
