While walking down the road opposite the Trenton Sewer Treatment plant, out of the corner of my eye I saw a bird fly by and land. Upon looking more closely I knew it was a Winter Wren. I planted my tripod as fast as possible, swung the lens around, and this is frame number three of six. C&C welcome.

D500, Nikon 500mm f/4G + 1.4 TC, 1/2500s, f 8.0, ISO 800, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

Removed some distracting twigs/branches in Cs6,

Geoffrey your bird is a Carolina Wren. Winter Wren is smaller, with barred flanks and is browner than this.

I like the pose but the bird could use some extra sharpening. I also find the curved stick in the back a bit distracting as is the large stick that is covering part of the bird.

Well it still is winter Geoffrey but its a Carolina... I wish the perch wasn't so front and large, as my eye is drawn there.... A sweet bird indeed and you were fairly close, TFS!

Thanks Isaac and Ann. Would one of the moderators please correct the Title. I was thinking Carolina Wren, but morphed into Winter Wren. As you mention Isaac, the patterns are distinctively different.

I agree the curved branch and the end of the perch are a bit distracting. Had a split second to grab.
