Iceland has incredible landscapes. Here the whimbrel is atop volcanic rock with moss and lichen and a carpet of low lying plants that give such texture and interest to this perch. The wind was blowing a bit and I was hoping for the grasses to stay out of the way of his beak... Nearly full frame. I did slight burning to lower right as there must have been some grasses and it lightened that corner by my name... I tried a different sharpening route as suggestion...

Nice low angle, Ann, and the beak falls perfectly into the open space in the vegetation. Lovley BG. Too bad the light hadn't been a tad lower but a lovely image.

Ann those grasses are not ideal from a composition point of view but you did very well keeping that long beak clear and do like that nice BG.Bird looks very good to me,very nice shot of this bird in it's habitat.

Hi Ann,

Seems everywhere one turns in Iceland there's a remarkable landscape, even up close as you've shown in this image of a beautiful Whimbrel. Like your low pov and nice graduated BG.

I like the inclusion of habitat although I might crop it a bit tighter on the LHS. good HA too, but the light angle wasn't ideal coming from the side. It looks a bit overesharpened to my eye but it's a nice frame. TFS
