Yesterday, very cloudy, rainy. Shot with 70mm macro flash SB24 nikon-1 . I made everything possible to defocuse theBG. Critiques and comments welcome as always! Thank you Robert(both Robert Amoruso & O'Toole).

Hi Valerio,
The flash looks like it may have overpowered the white a bit as you have lost detail in the right side of the flower. You did well with the BG except in the upper left and a crop would remove that part. You are a bit tight on the right hand side and an overall crop would benefit the composition. Next time try to power down the flash even more or use Robert's technique on ambient light to balance it; http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12287
it is at the top of the Macro forums under a stciky (yellow flower).
Try the techniques...........others have and it works!

I agree with Roman's comments and regards to Robert's flash tips (I am one who has recently been using the flash on manual at 1/8 power).
I think another point to bare in mind is would the shot have been better if you had got a little closer. For me I wonder is the primary interest the insect or the flower, I try to remind myself when I press that button - just what is it I am trying to capture. I think a crop off the top would improve this composition.

Hey Valerio, I think you did a good job with the details on the bug, and i would crop the top down, to much negative space there.
