This Juvenile Trumpeter swan was seen on the Yukon River in early December when the temps were around -30C. He/she didn't look well and possibly had a broken wing although I did see it flying low over the river at one point but not getting any airtime. It was around for about a week and then I didn't see it again. Hopefully it made it out okay. When it first arrived it was with an adult but the adult left after a few days.

This was shot handheld while lying on the ice. Canon 1DX Mk II, Canon 400 DO II at 400mm f/5.6 1/500 ISO 1000.

Thanks for looking.

Lovely on all counts but too cold for me :) For the repost I opened up the face, head, and upper neck quite a bit. That plus a contrast mask there.

I really love the image. A nice pose and head angle. The colors and ice crystals make a great setting. I do prefer the repost.

Beautiful pose and details Geoff. I'm cold just looking at it. Agree that Arthur's repost really brings out the beauty in this shot that was there all along. Very nice.
