From Lake Myvatn, Iceland, in July. One of my target birds for the trip and he didn't disappoint. I followed him through lumpy fields for some distance, trying to stay up-light from him, until he finally perched near me in a more-or-less open spot. Probably leading me away from a nest site. A handsome species in breeding plumage, especially when his golden spangles catch the late afternoon light.

Really like the calling pose you have captured on this lovely looking bird, this all works very well.

All the best for 2017 Bill.

This is nice Bill!
Love the light and the calling pose.
You did well to catch him in an open area.
This is not a deal breaker but i might be tempted to clone out that long grass touching the belly.

Well done, Bill. You did well under the conditions keeping up-light and getting a very nice calling pose. Like the detail and that we clearly see his feet on a bed of lichen.

I like the look back pose, visible tongue, sharpness, composition and setting. A very natural and appealing image Bill.

Thank you all. Gail, I'll go back and take a look at that stem of grass. It is a bit distracting once I start looking at it.
