Just for fun... caught this Western Gull(?) diving for a dead Flounder at Bolsa Chica Wetlands.

D500 w 500 f/4D AF-S (non VR) ~ 1/3200s f/6.3 ISO 200 Handheld ~ Processed in PSCC

Great detail and perfect moment of contact. Well captured. I've always found it interesting how they wait until the last split-second to tuck their wings.

Very well timed Kirk. Have to love what 10 frames per second does for you. I love the spread wings and the great details. Exposure is good as well. The whites on the rump look a tiny bit gray to me. If mine I would clone out the rock on the top right of the photo. Also since the bird is pretty much flying straight down I would center the bird in the middle and have equal distance from each primary tip to the edge. Also as the birds wings are not perfectly level, I would try it with a little bit of clockwise rotation to see how it works.
