Great find, exposure control and details. I would give it a bit more room and might tone down the yellow patch in the lower left.

Very nice job Steve! The owl looks great although it could use some more space in the frame. Like what you did in PS with the BG. Agree with Axel about the spot in the LLC. Thanks for posting!

Beautiful portrait!! I like the bird large in the frame and also the brighter yellow and brown highlights in the background (it provides the appearance of a dappled sunlit background, which I like).

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I have more room but there were a lot more branches just outside of where I cropped and I don't have the capability of quick masks.

Sun-dappled BG is just what this was and something I tried to maintain in the image while still removing the distracting branches. This was in an open, high-canopied section of some creekside trees surrounded by Ponderosa pines. Nice and peaceful in there.
