This image was taken at my local lake in Miami Florida with the Nikon D750 Handheld and AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm 1-5.6E ED VR.

I know is neither the prettiest background nor lighting, but I like the bird pose. Please let me know what you think and what should I do to improve this image.

ISO 400
f5.6
1/800s
500mm
Manual Mode
LR for white balance and usual. PS for sharpening. Neat Image noise reduction.
Crop Approx. 50%

All C & C's will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking

love the bird but the BG really spoils this one for me, it's way too bright and distracting for this to be a keeper. One way to overcome an ugly BG is to use a back drop with a setup. the perch angle isn't ideal either with the OOF part distracting.

Hi Juan.Agree that bg really does let this image down a bit, maybe taking the yellows down in just the bg would help a bit.I do like the bird and wonder if it is possible to make set up with the flycatcher family.Well done for getting this.
