Oh c'mon...you knew someone was going to name their first hosta image that, right? Might as well be ME! :D

Julie, I am a hosta fan. I have 12 different hosta varieties in my yard.

First, let me say the white/green variegated varieties are my least favorite. But you've taken something that, because of my own prejudices I was ready not to like, and turned it gorgeous. Excellent expression of texture and color gradation.

The whites look hot on my monitor, but that could just be a monitor thing.

VERY nice work!

Steve they are hot because they photographed that way. This variety really has very white edges and I didn't want to tone them down because they really popped those greens and looked so shocking against the black BG.

I think its great! I have a bunch of hostas here and find the leaves quite hard to photograph and have them look interesting..You nailed it.

This does have a "painterly" texture and look. Quite impressive for hand holding. I'm learning so much viewing this forum.....and your work which is excellent. It's so interesting to see how others perceive nature at the macro level. The plant I'm not familiar with.......embarrassingly admitted by a biology teacher.

Lana, don't feel bad. I admit I learned what most of the flowers are by putting them on my Flickr page and saying "Flower" and then someone else would come along and say, Hey, nice shot of a cosmos!" and I'd be all "Hey! It's a Cosmos!" LOL

The colors really pop out off the screen and light is so soft, gorgeous image.

I would like to see the image flipped verically but I think that might just be my pref.

Wonderful abstract look! I like the way the streams of color (including the background) flow.
