Striking pose, Joseph. Must have been great to see that he was clear of a distracting BG and in the process of climbing this single stalk. What beautiful subtle feather color changes you've captured. Well done.

Hi Geoffrey, from mid July till October a plant called Fire Flag grows up out of the wet areas at Circle B Bar Reserve. It has large green leaves and makes blossoms at the end of long stalks. This is one of the few time Purple Gallinules are out in the open. They absolutely love to feed on the blossoms. They climb the stalks to get at the blossoms. This image was captured as the weight of the bird bent the stalk to an open area with water as a background.

Thank you for viewing and commenting, very much appreciated.

Nicely done, Joseph. Love those feet, and the way they are clinging to the stalk. And of course the spectacular colors of the Gallinule. Maybe a touch more selective sharpening on the head?

Overall really nice agree with Bill another round of sharpening on the head. If the blossom was included in the original frame it might be nice to include it. TFS

All been said already. Very nice pose and background. Agree to more sharpening. Kudos for getting one of these birds with a clean background. Very nice.
