I found the weather in Yellowstone to be similar to here in UK - but more extreme, it was cooler and it was hotter and the weather conditions changed more quickly and dramatically. I tried to capture the change in weather conditions it was lovely sunshine one minute then the next there was quite a shower then it cleared up again.
I have done quite a few things with Nik filters, saturation, grads, tonal details also I used Andrew's previous suggestion on the cyan in the sky.
(Steve if you are looking - yes I saved the TIFF!!)
All C&C welcome.

Hi Jon, what was the lens used, I just get a feeling of some slight lens distortion and NO, the Xmas sherry isn't open yet. :S3: In addition I feel the sky is a bit too processed, with a real mix of bright blue sky juxtapose to impending rain clouds, which could be the case. I do like the way the light highlights the hills, creating that harsh light you get, but does the FG go so flat?? Perhaps I need to have been there to fully appreciate what you have capture, perhaps next time?? :w3 I'm sure andrew M can bring more thought to the capture.

Hi Jon - An interesting image with the Institute in it. I usually try to avoid the hand of man elements when in YNP. I also get the feeling of a slight curvature/distortion. I like all the different depths here. Agree with Steve about the sky. I have seen the way the light rolls through between the clouds and you have captured that feeling well.

And yes, Steve, you really do need to experience Yellowstone. You and Alison would love it and the Tetons.

Rachel

A lovely scene indeed. I have to agree that the visible blue of the sky is just a tad oversaturated...
I like the dynamic lighting all over. Could you perhaps have included a sliver more on the LHS? The compound/barn/structure/farm there seems a bit bunched in and truncated?

Thanks very much everyone for the comments, the image is full frame and the lens was 24-105 at 24mm.

Oh, this is a fresh take on the Yellowstone. Yep, there is that slight distortion from the wide angle but it doesn't bother me at all. That sky is just so good!

Nice scene here Jonathan...I feel that you have captured the changing weather well....I see a touch of distortion as well with the barn having a slight inward lean to it...a little more space on the left side would have given room to adjust that but I think it may make it even tighter than it is if you applied any correction to it now....good work with the Nik filters..I do love them for landscape images :)
