There are only a few spots on the Texas Gulf Coast were the Least Tern nest. We were lucky to find this colony and were careful not to disturb them from their routine.

A fine image Chris, I'm guessing it is an immature bird.

Handsome portrait of this beautiful little tern - my favorite. Shows how long their wings are. Good low POV. I'd be tempted to brighten the iris.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the constructive comments and questions.

Colin, this is actually a mature mating bird just a little beat up as this was the second mating of the year. The first time the birds mated/nested, we had abnormally high tides here on the coast. All of the nests that would normally be above the "high" water line were washed away. These terns where tired and very late in the season for nesting.

Bill, after reviewing this image, I like your suggestion, and in fact I am thinking of brightening the entire image slightly.

Again, thanks for the help.

Chris
