MI '08

This was my 5th year photographing loon chicks in MI, and with two sets of chicks born 5 days apart we were all in loon heaven.

Off to Iceland in a few minutes, see you when I get back.

With constantly changing background tonalities incident metering proved the ticket.

Great image Charles, and the color on the water is awsome. I might get rid of the extra catchlight. Well done

Dan,

I do not use flash on any of my loon images. The catchlight is natural, contrary to what many believe you can get a double catchlight au-natural. Especially, with light skipping off the water.

No reflection on your comment :)...but, I have to say overall, I find the desire for sterility in images a bit disconcerting.

Again, really sweet image:)

Fabulous water reflections really add to an already excellent photo. I might consider a little CCW rotation but that's about it. Thanks for posting!

Outstanding colors, the green water really brings out the chicks colors.

have a great time in Iceland and say hi to Bill H from us :)

I like it Chas, the water makes this image IMO. :)

Chas,
Beautiful job on the exposure and sharpness.
I get multiple catch-light all the time. Water is very reflective at times!
The look of water is a real bonus.

Looks level to me, the little wave makes it look off level. I like it.

The only thing I could add is, it is a little tight in the frame for my taste.

IMO a less crowed feel for the Loon and a little more of that beautiful water would make this an even stronger image.
