The immediate environment is due to beaver activity, a fascinating place to visit. All C&C welcome

Very nice scene Jonathan...I just have two small suggestions...perhaps darken the distant mountains a tiny bit and add a smidge of contrast to them...the clearing in the sky in the upper left has some minor uneven tones which I am certain could be easily corrected by using Selective Color and reduce the black on both cyan and blue...sometimes I find this works well...compositionally I like it as presented...nice work!

Thanks Andrew, that is helpful, I especially appreciate your pointers regarding the colours - I have to admit I am a real rookie when it comes to landscapes.

Love the layers of separation here Jonathan.
Good suggestions by Andrew, my first look also felt like there was a dissonance between the luminosity of the midtones and highlights.

Hi Jon - A classic scene. Great suggestions by Andrew. Btw this also works as a very nice pano without the pond and reflection (discovered as I scrolled down :S3:).
