Common Tern adult and juvenile. From Nickerson, late one afternoon in early August. I was standing, trying for Skimmer flight shots, when I saw the adult Tern fly in with a fish. I swiveled around, acquired focus, and grabbed several frames just in time. Had I been expecting this, a lower POV might have been nice; but I was pleased to capture the moment of hand-off. Did a bit of beach clean-up.

D7200, 500f4 + 1.4 TC, ISO 500, 1/3200s @ f/8 manual.

Great timing, Bill. Moment captured beautifully with good head angles, open beak of youngster, highlight in eye of both. Nice feather detail and like the juveniles raised foot.

I agree with you that a lower perspective would have been ideal. I do love the behaviour with the perfect parallel-to-us poses. What is the food morsel?

Thank you all. Daniel, I don't know about the morsel. It looks a bit like a small butterfish, but seems to be lacking head or tail. I don't know my fish.
