I took this photo last weekend in Haines AK. I spent the weekend there and will be returning for 5 more days starting this Wednesday. Haines is a great place for eagles but much better when there is snow. So far this year looks like snow will be late in coming. Oh well....still a fun time no matter the weather and I'm lucky that I can drive there in 3 hrs.

This was shot from tripod with Canon 1DX2, Canon 600 f/4 IS II at f/8, 1/1600, ISO 500. In post I cropped and then desaturated the blues a tiny bit and then sharpened. All with LR.

What do you think of the crop/composition? The eagle is a bit centred compared to my usual comps. But I liked the leading lines of the rocks towards the eagle. Should I make it a more pano crop and add more water to the right? Let me know your thoughts.

Very nice. The Eagle looks so good against that BG. Fantastic detail. Love the trail of water between the fishes tail and that rock. Well done Geoff.

Details and image quality are excellent. Love the feeding action. I also like the crop as is except maybe wanting a little more room on top.

Great IQ and detail. The exposure looks perfect for both the white head and dark brown body. The water splashing off the tail is a plus.

very nice Geoff, surprised not to see snow and to see sunlight in Haines this time of the year! I like the food but I agree with your assessment that it looks much better with snow, the rocks on the river bed and the ripples in the BG are a bit distracting but the rest is excellent

I think the composition is good as is,
