I photographed this owl at a nearby raptor education center. They fly their birds without jesses and I was able to get many beautiful flight shots.
I used a Canon 7Dii and the 100-400 mm lens at 100 mm. Underexposed by 1.3 stop using aperture priority. ISO 1250, aperture f/3.5, shutterspeed 1/5000 sec
In LR some slight cropping, some darkening of the lower left corner. In PS some sharpening and some noise reduction (via Dfine filter).

I like the atmospheric look about the image. Lovely detail and nice DOF. Although the BG is a wee bit busy, I think it blends well. I am sure others will give more critique Madeleine, I like it and thanks for sharing.

Hi Madeleine,
Nice focus on the bird. As stated above environment is a bit busy but then again my eye still goes back to those eyes - a great look. Overall a fine image.

Thank you all for your comments. I agree about the background, which is why I underexposed as much as I dared. The stump is in an awkward place but that's what she was taking off from :w3
