Golden-crowned Kinglet

These tiny birds are very fidgety, zipping from twig to twig in search of a morsel. And usually with their backs to me. I probably took 200 frames, and only a few captured the golden crown and something approaching a decent head angle (I know, another degree or two wouldn't hurt). From Cape May last Wednesday.

D7200, 500f4 + 1.4 TC, ISO 2000, 1/2500s @ f/7.1 manual. Full height cropped from horizontal.

Beautiful bird, Bill! No nits from me. I think the color works really well and the berry (?) is like icing on the cake!

Great find and good work once found. Wonderful colors and sharpness and I really like the detail in the feet as they clutch the branch.

These lovely little birds do seem to like conifers,nice hanging pose and true colours and the bird looks very sharp,very well caught Bill.

Yes, I agree a better head angle would have been excellent, but I understand what it is trying to get good images of this species! I've had a bit of luck using audio with them, but not a whole lot. Good details and clinging pose. I also like the few berries.

I know the Euro Firecrest and Goldcrest quite well .. this bird looks similar although I have never been to the US and seen it
