Caught this snowy egret fishing at first light on a windless morning almost turning the water to glass.

Canon 5DIV 600II with 2Xextender handheld. ISO 800,f8@2000sec. Full frame as shot converted in DPP saturation+1, resized and smart sharpened in PS. Thanks for looking

Striking image...love the glass-smooth water with mirror-like reflection.

Beautiful light and a great image Joe. Shame that the water wasn't perfectly still on the head part of the reflection but still a lovely shot.

Lovely light, nice pose and beautiful reflection. Perfectly still water on the reflected head would have put it over the top.

Magnificent. And I like the slight fuzziness on the head reflection. To me that's the little imperfection that keeps it from being too mechanical. Like things that are handmade.

Hi Joe, love the pose and HA, and that light is exquisite. Great reflection shown in the calmest of water.

Just right exposure and focus has produced a fine rendition of the feathers in this all white subject while at the same time showing good clarity and colour in the much darker perch. It's amazing that there is no transition line visible here between the foreground water and the BG.<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/645f10cc/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

Just a wow image. I love this. And I don't say that lightly. That light, the crystal clear glass, the reflection, the pose, the image quality, exposure, those rocks. Don't know how you could have taken a better shot! I had an Egret shot I was considering posting but no way after seeing this one.

That was a great opportunity you had here. Quite the calm water. Nice vertical comp. I like the light too. The only thing preventing it from being perfect is the smudged face in the reflection. All else is top notch.

Thanks for the input everyone. Actually I have more frames with both the bird and reflection perfectly sharp then not as you can see in the screenshot RAW files but they appear too sterile and boring to my eye. I much prefer the blurred head so you know there is some movement but different strokes for different folks.

Beautiful image Joe! I like the calm water, composition, exposure and perch. I do like the image in pane #10 better but like you say its personal preference. How are you liking the 5D MK IV?

Jim so far it has exceeded my expectations in every way. I loved the mkIII and was not expecting it to be much different but it's not even close. I shot some higher ISO (3200) stuff tonight I'll try and process tomorrow and post.
