This hawker was patrolling up and down a drainage ditch and would occasionally hover which gave me the opportunity of a flight shot. I was using different shutter speeds to try and capture some definition in the wings. This at 1/800. Taken into the light so plenty of exposure compensation was required.

Awesome shot, love the colors, the body is nice and sharp, the wing movement just gives that extra feel of motion.Good job !

Very nice sharpness and colors on the dragonfly! I like the bit of rim lighting on the body - but still nice brightness in the more shaded areas. You might consider selectively reducing the green/yellow saturation of the plant directly behind the dragonfly as it is competing with your subject - a rather minor tweak to a strong image!

Hi David,
Great stop action. Dragonfly looks nice with pleasing blur in the wings to denote motion and fine lighting on the body with good color. I find the background a bit distracting but you handled the exposure well.
