The term given to the flexing of the bill tip which can be seen in a number of waders is distal rhynchokinesis. I watched this bird for some time and it it would appear that he had been indulging a little too much because his bill was permanently stuck in this position!

Hi Jon, you have captured the behaviour nicely, and I was going to say well timed to have captured the water between the end of the bill, but you say that his bill is like that? Good feather detail showing up.

Nice pose and interesting that the beak is permanently stuck in this position. I'd prefer a slight head turn towards the camera. Nice one.
