This photo was taken shortly before sunset.
This is Reykur our firstborn Icelandic horse colt after frolicking around and deciding to get some sleep for the next round. He was about 14 days old at the time the photo was taken.
Another mare is in foal and Reykur will have a little playmate soon and hopefully I'll get some great pictures.
Lower ISO and SS with aperture 8 would have resulted in a better photo, I think, but I was happy that he laid down in this angle to the sun with a fine background. I wonder what he may have thought in this moment.
I removed 2 flies (the missed the remaining :-)), a black OoF patch in the BG and some minor dried remains of some old horse dung (like the remains at his lower ear). Some improvements to the eye and 25% sharpening.
Nikon D500 / ISO 640 / a 5.6 / SS 1/1250 sec. at 160mm with Nikkor 70-200 VR I handheld on the ground.
