From Flatey Island, Iceland. 90% of Full Frame. I must have taken a hundred frames showing every conceivable wriggling position of the Butterfish. The Guillemot sat there for a long time trying to decide what to do. I think he was reluctant to show us where his burrow was (which was just off to the left), but eventually took the fish home to feed his family.

Excellent details and nice timing, the background is ideal as is the foreground - lovely shot.

Hi Bill, I like the angled pose of the Guillemot, and you certainly nailed the exposure on this fellow. A huge bonus showing off his catch, and even better that is framed against the upper clean BG.

Very well done Bill, exposure is spot on, IQ looks terrific and i like the position of the pry, the little flippers... BG is great, lovely.

Bill, nice shot, sharp, nice comp, nice BG, and nice subject matter, you do have some solid blacks though.

Sharp with a perfect exposure. You have a nice look at the head of the fish to go with a decent head angle (for this particular image). We would not be calling that a butterfish on this side of the pond.

Man, this is nice Bill! Exposure is spot on and the light superb!
Love the wiggly fish.
The water droplets and wet look tell the story of a fishing expedition on the ocean.
Well done,
Gail

Excellent capture, Bill. Great exposure and having the prey facing us. Like the hint of red in the mouth and the foot showing from underneath.

Thank you all.

Stu: Out of the many images of the wriggling fish, this was one of the few with him against the plain BG which I why I picked it.

Artie: Doesn't look like a Butterfish to me either, but that's what our Icelandic guide told us it was.

Hey Bill, From my friend David Policansky, Dr. Fish: It could well be what they call butterfish there, Pholis gunnellus. W call it rock gunnel over here. Nothing like our butterfish, Peprilus triacanthus. Nice shot.

Thanks Artie. That's useful; I'll put the name into the File Info.
