I was up in Maine hoping mostly to get birds... not much luck though. Did get this Variegated Fritillary (I think?) that I was happy with. Wish I had a better angle on the insect but liked the way he topped the flower.

Erik that is a really eye catching image, I love the diffused background and colours, the butterfly as you indicate isn't perfect but it all makes for a very appealing image. The head and antennae appear sharp and the plant it is perched on looks great.

I agree that this is an eye-catching image and is very nicely composed! I would just say that the greens on the background grass stems seem oversaturated - to the extent that they are pulling my eye away from your subject. If you can tone those down a little, this strong image will be even better! :S3:

Ok I tried desaturating the background a little... is it enough?

The repost is better. I might try even a little less saturation to see how that looks - but the final decision is up to you. :S3:

Hi Erik, a lovely image for the reasons stated above. The sunny light is gorgeous and the color of the butterfly really pop out. Also the perch is lovely. It's a pity that you also desaturated the yellows in the RP. That sunny glow seems to have gone out a bit in that one.
