We had stopped along the unpaved road that was running alongside one of the many fjords we skirted. I had my back to the water, trying to capture a small Redshank chick in the grass field, when someone said "Look behind you." This little guy was hunkered down in the wrack line on the rocky beach, right by the edge of the road. This is full-width, cropped to pano. If I had thought of it at the time I would have taken off the TC -- this is a bit tight in the frame for me. A ditch and fence kept me from backing up. A little more DOF would have helped the bird, but wouldn't have helped the BG. But I liked the colors of the wrack.

Bill....I like this image. I like how you handled the bg and shot from a lower angle. The detail in the feathers looks good and you have a small but discernible highlight in that eye. I say " Good Work"

Oh wow this is way too cute. The dof is fine by me, if anything I may have opened up fully but it looks great as is. Super colours with those deep reds and oranges. That was a heck of an opportunity - thanks for showing us this little cutie :-)

Hi Bill,
I like this image a bunch, pov, the colors throughout, and the cute chick factor. Amazing to think of the thousands of miles that lie ahead for this young one! Well done Bill.

Agree with all that has been said. Love the background and the cute little fuzzy chick. Image quality is great. Were the parents around? If you got anywhere near one of our local Common Terns (as I am sure you know) you will be dive bombed, pecked on the head and have their bowels released on you as well.

This is really nice Bill.
I do not find the image too tight at all.
The colors of the seaweed really add a lot to this image.
Love the fluff and the grown-up feathers as well!

Great capture, Bill. I like the contrast of colors surrounding this cute fuzzball. Also don't think it's too tight in the frame. Well done.
