The monarch butterflies were beginning to be in evidence last weekend, and this patch of prairie had a few, along with swallowtails and cabbage moths. Later in the fall, in this nature preserve, the monarchs will cluster together on the trees, after their transit of Lake Erie.

Birding lens used as macro. Next time I will bring the true macro with me.

Very nice indeed a good example of what is the best lens for natural history .. the one you have with you! Good focus and detail I would suggest lifting the blacks a little.

Very appealing. I like that you composed to include the full tip of the flower. Nice colours, and separation from the BG. I'd only be tempted to remove the small black spot halfway up the stem.
