I went back on several different days and photographed this Eastern Bluebird at Negri-Nepote Grasslands in New Jersey. The bird is sitting on an old snag that I placed there that has become one of its regular places to stop and look for food. Background is the natural grass of the grassland.
Canon 7d2 and Canon 500f4 ii + 1.4xiii. ISO 400. F8, SS 1/1600. Tripod mounted.
Converted in DPP 4. Auto white balance. Shadows +1. Exposure +.17. Saturation of Aqua and Blue both -1 and Luminance -2. In PS I cloned out a small stick on the bottom right of the frame. Cropped, sharpened and applied noise reduction to background. Also lowered the blues and cyans a bit more to try and not have an overpowering blue. Very hard with these birds for me to find a balance between how the bird appeared in the early morning light and a nice and not over saturated and presentable color for an image.
