This one is certainly the closest encounter with this little wonder.

Processed using Photoshop CS4
Done some work on the highlight side and increased the saturation. Selective sharpening made on the bird. No background cleaning.

Canon 7D
Canon 400MM F/5.6L USM
1/640 Sec F/ 5.6
ISO-1600
Metering- Center Weighted +0.67 EV
Thanks for Viewing.

Great bird, pose and background. I would like to see more room on the right and on top. Think you have the saturation too high and would lower the blues and cyans. Unfortunately the bird looks soft to me. Don't see sharp focus.

Hello,

kingfisher is a great motive at everytime.
i am a little bitt struggeling with your result.
it looks not very sharp (ok iso 1600 and highlighten it with the 7D is not a perfect starting point)
and in my opinion it looks like a crop also or am i wrong ?
i also agree to/with Isaac

It's a nice head shot but as pointed out it is soft and a bit lacking in IQ. wish you had a better HA

Neat bird and framing but surely lacking in fine feather detail, sharpness, and IQ...
