Really nice view of this woodpecker. Details look great and I love the old scratched up perch. I feel like it could be cropped giving just a bit more room at the bottom as the tail is so close to touching the edge of the frame. Also could use less room to the right and more to the left. Personal preference of course. Something looks off just above the J of your signature and going up and to the right. Something cloned out?

No canvas left for the bottom I,m affraid.
Most likely a wayward blue tit in mid flight removed.. Theres always one in the BG somewhere. The BG is a hazel bush so it would be a bird of some sort.
Well spotted.

John:

Excellent lighting, the bird really pops, like the classic woodpecker pose, tongue out is fun.

Was the window open?

Hi Randy
No - window closed but you have to be picky about the glass !! The older smaller panes have defects in them which really mess things up. Strangely, modern double glazing seems to be OK.
Folks worry about shooting through glass but happily stick a UV filter on.

Nice image of the woodpecker being well positioned. Even though the background is fine it may have been even softer having used f/5.6 (on behalf of a higher ISO or slower shutter speed of course).
