This is from my 2014 road trip. I called you while I was there, but you were somewhere else.

Superb down the barrel shot Jim, even the flared tail fits parallel with the wing.

As a side note, I'm surprised you went with a fairly low ISO and shutter speed - what would your keeper rate be like in a situation like these? I would have expected to have seen some movement within the bird, but all looks good here.

Thanks Mike. 1/800 is about the minimum SS to get consistently sharp images of this bird. At 1/1000 my sharp image rate was about 9 of 10. Keeper rate depends more on the bird and conditions and your standards for keepers. That said, I would have likely been better off at ISO 1000 and 1/1250.

Jim, super shot with intense stare and sweet BG, my only nit is the purplish cast to it.
Here is a quick redo, toning down the afore mentioned.

Im I thought your OP was brilliant. Then I saw Tims. The bird has just popped out of the frame. Removing the cast has made this image even more special.

Great positioning on the wings and tail flare make this over the top. Dave Salem and I have shot a lot Harriers in the past years and this one puts them to shame. Wish it were mine!
