I had been watching the dragonfly exuvia with a binocular for hours sitting under an umbrella with my camera on the tripod in the pond covered by a bin liner. (Something like 7am to 3pm). Whilst I was waiting I noticed the damsel at the base of the stem and then eventually it climbed onto the exuvia.
I don't think I should admit this but Pam, my wife asked, "why have you been watching this exuvia for so long?" I explained I was waiting for the imago to emerge. She said, "you'll be waiting a long time, it's already emerged!"
I had been looking very carefully to see a split in the back of the exuvia and I just could not see one at all. It was only later in the afternoon when looking at the exuvia when it was side lit that it was obvious that the darned thing was empty!.... Happy days.
All C&C welcome.

A very cool capture, Jon - and I agree that the exuvia does not look empty. Excellent sharpness and beautiful light!
