I always enjoy watching birds resting quietly in the water on a really hot day.
This little guy had a nice soak at sunrise.
Nothing fancy here but I love the light in this image.
Canon 1 DX and 600mm II 1.4 X III
ISO 800 F 5.6 SS 1/2000
PP: Crop to 70% FF, usual sliders in LR5,off to CS5 for levels and a touch of DE on the breast., USM to JPEG. Nothing cloned or added.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
Gail

Beautiful image, Gail! Magic light, super exposure, very nice colors. Love both foreground and BG and I love the smooth water and the distant BG. I can imagine it gave you a little trying how to crop it. I'd loos some from the top. Well done.

Wonderfull quality of light on this beauty, Gail. One can sense the expression of relief. Like the smooth foreground and BG with the narrow ripple in the water.

Love the simplicity of this image and the light and feel are divine.

nice low angle and light, I'd put more room on the bottom to allow for virtual feet

I love the crop as is, nicely done with a sweet BG and really lush light. Although minimal I get the illusion the image may need a tiny bit of CCW rotation. Makes me antsy for their migration back through in a couple of months!!

Ditto all the positives comments above. Looks like JBWR. As this species has short legs, there is plenty of room for the virtual feet. And I love the framing of the image as posted. Exactly as posted. a

I love it as posted also Gail. The detail and colors are beautiful and I like the fact that it is in the water but still isn't soaked. Well done
