Hi,

This is a Mangrove Skipper taken here in St. Petersburg, Fl at Weedon Island Preserve. It is nectaring on the Florida native porterweed. There currently is no data on total populations, but species that depends on unspoiled coastal areas in Florida is likely in trouble.

Thanks,

Chad

I like how you have the flower and Skipper in focus

Nicely composed, Chad. It seems a bit over-sharpened, when details start to look shiny, theu are probably over sharpened. I';d also try and get more color out of that left wing.

Hi Chad - not the easiest perspective to do justice to this attractive skipper. I find the right wing a problem - moving to your left a little may have solved this problem.

Thanks guys. Moving is not really an option with these guys as soon as you focus they are gone! As far as over sharpening, I really didn't sharpen it much at all. These b-flys are very iridescent though. I will try yo get some more color out of the wing, hadn't thought of that.

Thanks,

Chad

Nicely composed. I like the details in the wing; and both the flower and your subject are in focus...
