I captured this image at the rookery in the alligator breeding pond, Gatorland, Orlando, Florida. To square the focal plane with the bird put the light on the side. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

What a beauty and one of nature's perfect designs. A "simple" black bird with all it's nice tones and details. Love the eye and the beak with the colors and patterns. Light was getting a little strong here, but still good. TFS.

I love head shots and this is a great one! The detail on the beak, eye, and the yellow area (don't know what it is called) are wonderful! The definition on the head created by the light angle really adds a lot.

I don't know the bird well but do I see a slight magenta to blue cast?
