I was laying in the mud in camo with the lens resting on a log w/beanbag looking for waterfowl. Waterfowl were not cooperative, but a painted turtle bobbed up just past the mfd of the lens and left me this portrait.

1D2n, 600f4, iso400, 1/1600 @f4

Looks great Steve !!!! The low angle sure makes a difference Particularly like the selected crop !!!

At first I wasn't sure about the large space to the right of the turtle but interesting ripple patterns in the water add some visual interest. Very nice....

Thanks, both you guys. Robert, the ripples were what led me to the crop.

Nice placement and great profile. The motion of the water around the turtles neck also adds interest.Nice image!

Hi Steve, very nice approach here. The low angle and the panoramic perspective really make this photograph unique no nits here. Good thinking, I like it!
