Went back this weekend and got some more shots from the beach at Breezy Point in Queens, New York. No luck this time with the birds running or actively feeding. Did get a great sequence of them mating and this American Oystercatcher while it stood in the perfect spot where you could not really tell where foreground ends and background begins.

Canon 500 f4 ii and 1.4x iii with 7d mark ii. ISO 400, F 7.1, SS 1/2000

Convereted in DPP 4. Cleaned up a few small spots on ground. Slight adjustments to highlights/shadows, contrast and saturation. Brought the red of the beak down a bit as it was just too vibrant. Noise reduction to background and sharpened.

Hi Isaac, I like the low perspective here, and you have captured a nice angled pose. Exquisite light, well exposed, and just love that OOF BG. I also like how the feet are covered with a slight film of water.

Thank you Stu, Karl and Christopher. I am lucky because where I was shooting has a very long and fairly flat beach. There is a large area that gets that perfect sheen when the wave recedes but still holds a tiny bit of water. Have to nail it at the perfect time and be lucky that the bird where you want it to be and facing you to get the shot with a background like this. I was able to get 4 of basically the same shot in one burst and then the moment passed.

Super nice low angle again. Nice exposure and a super nice BG and foreground. Well done.
