Bullfinch
Just to show how things change in the Winter. Certainly gets rid of the vegetation and BG's for those who dont like them. This shot to me looks a bit bland somehow. Taken last winter -hence coloured leaves in the puddle.See what people think.

Beautiful image, John. the red reflection in the water nicely compliments the bird.

Looks abit over the top but thats how it is in a woodland pool in winter.

I really like the monochromatic feel to this image (the red on the pool and the feather). I think the OOF green on the side complements it really well! But what happened to its beak? Thanks for sharing, John!

Thanks Adhika
The bits on the beak are the remains of nettle seeds- common Bullfinch food in the Winter. Probably come to the pool to wash them off but they usually wipe the beak on a branch.

This is one pretty neat shot John. The only thing needed is the removal of the brightest highlight in top RH corner. One for mag publication I think:S3:

Very nice shot, had the perch been east west as opposed to north south I think it would have looked better, the OOF part behind the bird keeps pulling my eye.

Excellent image John, yes remove little background highlight and its perfect for me.
Getting more of these in the garden over last couple of years.

Graham.

Thanks all.
Highlight removed.
Jon- cant do much about the OOF background. I know what you mean aboutb the perch but put it the otherway and they have a habit of sitting facing the camera, which I don't really like.
Cheers

Really love the way all the colors work together and the head turn makes it for me.
