Nice pose with the crest and leg up, John. Fits the theme well.

Looks like a young one with that head dress. Nice to see the foot. The BG on the left with the water and white "birds" maybe isn't working for me here and the heron appears a bit too centered. I do like the grasses in the front and the vegetation above/behind.

I like you repost John, without the white birds. I really like his pose and habitat. Are you able to remove the little purplish flowers on the RHS?

TFS!

Thanks I noticed them as soon as I posted it and it was pretty late so good point. Will do.
Thanks

Very nice image John I like the repost better, there is some nice light on the heron bringing out fine details.

Great capture John, and yes the repost is a lot better. I like the colours on the FG and BG which blend well to show off the heron.

Lovely bird, John. Very similar to our Great Blue Heron, I can see why it is called the Grey Heron... more grey, less blue. Thank you for sharing.

I will be the odd "man " out here and say I prefer to OP composition with the 2 white blobs cloned out and the little flowers cropped out on RHS of frame.
I like the vertical lines created by the trees in the BG and the diagonal line created by the FG vegetation.
Gives a nice tension to the image.
The foot up pose is excellent.
Well done,
Gail

Great pose, John - as if saying "pleased to meet you!" Technically well-executed, too. Perhaps do something about the bright flowers on the left margin - either crop them or clone-heal them out (your cropped some but a little remains)? They drag my eyes out from the center of attention.
