This is a feature of the grebe's courtship dance, and hence the name great crested grebe. I am guessing the male is the one on the left as the colouration is a little more pronounced.

Hi Jon, it looks like Great Crested Grebe day, as quite a few have been posted today. Good eye level capture, and just love the display by the male. Well exposed on the blacks, and nicely separated from the distant BG.

What a special image of this pair. My favorite part is the cocked head of the left bird and the obvious breeding behavior happening. I think you framed it just right.

Great looking Head pose on the male, and inquisitive look on the female. Nice details and colours on the birds.

I like the interaction, composition, view of the far shoreline along the top. Perhaps a little bit of CW rotation needed. All around a fun image.

Thanks folks glad you liked it. Must admit I don't have too many reservations over using the 2xTC it seems to be delivering.
Marina I thought you would like the one on the left, I posted similar ones in previous years and you like those too:w3
