The cap of this mushroom in its early stages is covered with distinctive pointed projections (fibrillose scales) that eventually fall off as the cap expands.

Canon EOS 5, Canon 100mm macro, ISO 50, flash x2, F22, Tripod.

Lovely image, John, specially how the light seems to be directed to the top of the mushrooms, giving a spotlight effect. Great color palette and compo.

Wow! Makes me want to string a hammock between them a take a nap ;7)

To be very picky, a few highlights could be cloned out. I don't mind the ones to the far right of the right 'shroom, but would like to see the ones between the two shrooms and the one at the base of the right one removed.
