I'm not a flower photographer, but I sure like the lighting on this Mike. Looks very dramatic to me.

Mike......well looks like you are an expert with the strobe already. Great lighting and wonderful image.

Fantastic, very graphic! I'd get some off the left to start on the red, the little bit of black dilutes the impact IMO.

Love how the reds look, rich! Agree with Fabs on the black

Mike great image here. Hibiscus are one of my favourite flowers. I love the full DOF of the petals, pistil and stamen and the black background.

Hey Mike, you did an excellent job with the strobe. Very dramatic looking. Great color and details, I agree the with others about black areas on the left. I would just clone the flower petals into that area.

Excellent color. Excellent detail. Beautiful image. The black doesn't really bother but I do wish that the red on the left side was a tad brighter. Still very nice.

Mike,

Great image. Wonderful texture and color. I guess it would look better with the black areas brighter, but I don't see how to use the clone tool here as Mike Moats suggests, but my PS skills are not advanced enough to pull it off!. Big congrats here. I'd print this sucker and hang it on my wall!!

Cheers :)

Hi Mike,
I'm with the remove the black from the left side group............very dramatic otherwise!

This is for Bruce, who asked about how I would clone the petals into the black corners. By just copying (cloning) the petals next to the black areas, and then paste them into the black. I did this on my laptop so I wasn't able to do a great job as good as I would like. Even though everyone on this site probably use CS3 or the elements 5 or above which I'm sure make this task easier, I'm still using elements 2.0:D

Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions. Mike, you did a really super job on the cloning--much better than my first attempt with CS2! I really like your results. Thanks!

Hey Bruce, the more you work it the better you'll get, this was a easy one to do, and you have a really nice image here.
