As a fan of well done high-key images, I've always had something for Snowy Owls against white sky images. When I saw on my monitor this dramatic image of one about to snatch prey with a white BG I knew I had something worth processing. I eliminated some darker patches and small twigs from the surroundings, and I thought long and hard about removing the ones remaining at right but thought they grounded the image nicely.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp, enhanced the eyes' yellows (they tend to look dull in overcast conditions), deepened the blacks.

Artistic for sure and I love the talons too. Also makes me realize once more how incredible nature is with this kind of camouflage and perfect design it provides. Photos like this are real treat for the viewer. TFS.

That about sums up every rodents worst nightmare!!

What a great image. Love the sinister look, the white on white wings and the deadly talons. Enough detail in the snow underfoot to give the owl a sense of place

you continue to excel yourself with these snowy owl frames

I like the composition, intense eyes and how the owl just clears the ground. Those talons look deadly. Great stuff as always Daniel!
