I took this last year at Fort DeSoto.
Canon 1DX 600 MM 1.4 X
ISO 400 F 7.1 SS 1/2000
Almost FF
Minimal PP- crop, usual clarity and saturation and sharpening sliders in LR6 then off to CS5 for levels and a bit of Detail Extractor to the neck. Nothing cloned or added.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
Gail

Gail:

The fluffed up pose is excellent, the sprig of grass adds a nice counterpoint to the bird, well exposed, great POV, good catchlight.

Like everything about this image, Gail. I also agree with Randy's comments. I would like to add how well you handled the whites, both on the bird and the sand. Beautiful how the sand transitions into the blue and faint olive BG.

Everything came together nicely for this one Gail, the pose, the little look back and a hint of environment. Usual high techs.

Hi Gail, love the low perspective, and I love our feathered friends when they fluff their feathers even more. The angled pose works well, and all captured in nice soft light. I do like the contrast between the white sand and blue BG. Well captured.

Gail, this is a fine image. Terrific angle, pose and BG. Details are top notch and that grass sprig adds so much interest adding a touch of colour and size comparison. TFS.

Lots to like here, from the soft colors, to the shaking, to the nice sand and that little plant. What interests me the most is the fine detail...I can almost count every feather.

Superb feather detail, not sure about the look on the face.
Very nice low POV.

That is just beautiful, the low angle really makes the bird stand out and that little tuft of vegetation lifts the image to top level - excellent shot.

This really is a wonderful image from the hazy white sandy foreground to the smooth blue and grey sky complimenting the Plover with its ruffled feathers in fine detail.
The little plant balances the scene perfectly. Very good work.
