Graham:

Lovely bird, so different from our Goldfinch. Nice pose, well exposed, interesting perch without being overpowering.

I do like the snow, but might consider removing a few of the very brightest flakes right by the body, esp. along the upper back. They have enough contrast against the darker background that I find those two mildly distracting so close to the bird.

Purely personal taste.

Cheers

Nice one !
Got aboutb 20 of these starting to come in to the garden and pool. Not seen many this year though.
Good stuff.

Hi Graham, I am loving birds in the snow these days and your shot shows me why! Wonderful bird with great colours and pose. Interesting perch, and snowfall. I am with Randy regarding culling some of those bright snowflakes that are closer to the bird. Well done!

One of my favorite birds in Europe in a nice winter setting, interesting perch and good pose and perfect HA. Falling snow adds nicely to the image. TFS.

Beautiful bird, Graham!
I love all the small details and the snowflakes in the background. I don’t think you should remove any of them. I think they add much to the whole feeling of the picture.
Cheers,
Kalin

Beautiful shot very accurate colours and good detail, although I think this DOF is good I would suggest a smaller aperture.
Is the image cropped - I ask because the aperture would depend upon the magnification of the subject.

Lovely bird and nice to see the perch full of snow and the falling snow. I enjoy the image with or without the brighter snowflakes. That's a personal preference.
