Hello - First time posting here. I normally hang out it the ETL.

Tent Spider - Cyrtophora moluccensis

A bit more focus on the eye would have been better.

Canon 5D2
EF100mm f2.8 @ 100mm
1/800 sec @ f2.8
ISO /800
Evaluative metering

C&C Welcomed and appreciated!

Hi Glenie
Good to see you posting. As yousay more DOF would have been good At 2.8 though you are not going to get much to play with on the 100mm lens. Probably a couple of mm at the most !Love the effect of the web at the top !
Its a whole new world and great fun ! Keep at it.
John

Welcome to Macro forum Glennie you are off to a good start. looking at your image I am surprised the aperture was 2.8 was it a significant crop? As John has pointed out a smaller aperture f11- f16 would have improved the image significantly but well done. If there is a possibility of taking more I recommend you do as you are certainly on the right track.

Thank you Jon and John.

Jon - Crop was about approx 80% of FF. Spider and web disappeared overnight. I have a few more frames, but all pretty much the same.

When the birds aren't playing, this looks like a good spot to be.

The parts you got in focus are tack sharp! A little more would be nice, but might need a tripod. Love that web! More DOF would have taken away that lovely effect and not done the creamy BG any good.

Hope this isn't one of your poisonous spiders... I hear you have some bad chaps down there.

Cool shot. Love the OOF effect on the web.
