Spent a very wet day on the Northern moors deliberately trying to get a picture or two of these birds in the rain, conditions where really bad with poor light but enjoyed trying.

Thanks for taking a look. <!-- attachments --> <!-- / attachments -->

Great image, Keith.

Nice mood with plenty of good detail on the bird and the wet lichens look terrific!

Around here, shooting at 1600 ISO, 1/800@F.1 counts as being really good light! :w3

Beautiful coloured BG mimicks the bird's breast. Love the lichens and the perch. The snipe looks perfectly miserable...as I reckon you would be after this session!
Thank you for sharing.

Love this image, Keith. The rain adds so much interest and brigs out the colors very nicely.

Hi Keith, I can only echo the previous comments.

I like the fact you have position the subject off centre and also the subject is 3/4 on. Both the lichen post and rain drops create a nice mood/atmosphere to the capture. I'm interested to see you managed to retain the rain streaks at 1/800, normally it's less, so well done. I'm not sure if you may have done any slight cloning along the edge of the LH rock, or it's just DoF???

Hi Keith, wow this snipe is super with all of the attractive elements in this image. Rain, placement in frame of the snipe, colors, perch, and overall pleasing composition, well done!

Here you go again, you killed me last year with the Snipe in the open. The rain adds interest, background perfect, perch compliments the bird wonderfully. Nice composition, thank you for sharing. Keith.

Hi Keith, I really like this shot for many of the reasons already mentioned. The composition and rain are super. The lichen seems more sharp and detailed than the bird to me, and draws my eye. Perhaps a small degree of localized sharpening mask could take it down a notch if you so choose.
